It’s been a while since I have posted here, but I’m back! I’ve been on a bit of a spending fast (which went pretty terribly) so I was trying my hardest not to purchase much in the month of September. I recently went to one of my favorite stores (Sephora), to pick up some things and I also recently got some orders in from Amazon. Perfect timing for a post!
I know you see the Fenty Beauty products front and center so lets start there! Because I hate going into stores when they are super packed, I waited until the week after the Fenty Beauty launch to stop in Sephora and pick up somethings that I saw in the 100+ tutorials I watched beforehand. Just my luck however, the darker shades were sold out at two locations but I was still able to get IQ matched so when the foundation is restocked, I will be able to purchase. I did get a sample and let me tell you… best foundation I have EVER used… EVER! I will talk more about it when I am able to purchase it and wear it more often, but all I can say is it really does look like skin.
I was able to pick up the Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer and the Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick in Rum. I have been getting so many compliments when I wear the Shimmer Skinstick. It’s such a subtle highlight that it looks like a natural glow. It’s the kind of highlighter that you can wear everyday. On the days you aren’t wearing makeup but want to look a bit more vibrant, dab a little on your cheeks and nose. The Gloss Bomb is the perfect everyday lip gloss and pairs well with any brown or mauve lip liner. I can say already that these are two of the best makeup products I’ve purchased this year.
I also picked up the Sephora brand Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer in Toffee. I have been looking for a new under eye concealer, and while I usually use the LA Pro Girl Concealer and like it, I don’t really care for the thick consistency so I wanted to try something new. After trying the bright future gel serum for the first time, I will say I wasn’t in love with the immediate result. It could have been the lighting in my apartment, but my under eye looked way too light and ashy after using it. It wasn’t until I took a photo at brunch that I realized how well it all blended. I don’t really care for that because I want to be confident when I walk out the house and I also don’t want to have to do too much work for my concealer to blend. I’m willing to give it another try because it isn’t horrible. I will say I like the consistency of this concealer because it’s think and easier for me to try to blend.
Of course you all know by now, I love face masks and I can’t pass up something that says detoxifying so I picked up this Blue clay mask. I used the mask once and it’s nothing to phone home about. I much prefer the Sephora collection sleeping gel masks over these clay masks.
The final Sephora pick up is this Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation that was given to me as a sample. I’ve never purchased from MF, but apparently this is their newest formula of the foundation. The only problem I have with this is that the darkest shade Sephora was given by MF is Y505 Cognac, which I could immediately tell wouldn’t match my skin tone. I will try it out as an under eye concealer, but knowing that the line actually does have darker shades, it would be nice to have a shade sample for darker girls available because I would have loved to try it all over my face!
The last two items I picked up are from Amazon and they are the Centella Blemish Cream and the Advanced Snail 92 All in one Cream. You’ve heard me talk about Snail Mucin here on the blog in a previous post so I won’t talk much about the All in one Cream because it is just like the power essence I mentioned before and does the same job… just in cream form.
I have yet to try the Centella Blemish Cream yet. I picked this up because I was reading great things about how it helps to fade hyper pigmentation which is my biggest skin annoyance right now. I have two small patches on my both cheeks that I’m trying to fade, so I hope this helps. It also contains Leaf Water for maximum hydration which is something I am always in need of because I like sleeping with the window open and the fan on… bad I know.
I ordered both products from Amazon, but I just learned that Ulta now carries CosRx products, so if you want to try their products and don’t want to wait for it to come in the mail, check your local Ulta!
