In short, I’m breaking out sis.
For the last few months, I have been trying to get in the groove of a solid skincare routine, which I thought I had down until I recently started breaking out. I was being diligent – face wash, witch hazel or cleansing pad, toner water, moisturizer (SPF in the morning), and face oil. I used a liquid acid / exfoliant once a week on Sundays, Vitamin C serum once a week on Wednesdays, and a face mask (sheet or clay) on Friday’s. That’s it – I had my skincare down to a science.

The other day I was minding my business on Instagram when I was served an ad from Pixi Beauty with a message that basically told me I needed more skin care products and that I needed to buy them right now! The actual message was that I would get a free Glow Tonic (which is one of my FAVORITE toners of all time) with a purchase of any tonic AND free shipping on any order over $25.
Girl…I know my debit card is tired.

About a month and a half ago, I logged into my Twitter account after over a year of not being on there, and came across a conversation that led me down a rabbit hole which then led me to an influencers page who had discount codes for beauty and skincare brands, one of them being Nola Skinsentials.
Naturally, I went straight to their website, stalked the Instagram account, and read tons of reviews before purchasing and using the 15% discount code I just so happened to stumble upon.

I didn’t want to come back and announce my obvious hiatus, but here we are. In the past eight months (I honestly didn’t realize it had been that long) since I’ve posted, a lot has happened, and I honestly didn’t feel good enough about myself to post anything and I just wasn’t motivated or inspired enough to think of content ideas. It wasn’t until recently when one of my favorite rappers, Nipsey Hussle died, that I realized how short life is, and how his music always spoke to focusing on your passion, putting in the work and going after what you want. He’s inspired me greatly through words since 2010, and in his passing he inspired me to get off my ass and get to it.

Editor’s Note: My Jade roller looks frosty because I freeze it before use.
OK… so I finally bought a Jade roller, and it has not only changed my skin but has really helped with my anxiety as well.
I believe it was last year or even 2017 when there was major hype around Jade rolling. I mean everyone and their mom had bought a Jade roller and was raving about how it improved their skin, but I just couldn’t buy into the hype. I mean how could using this little rolling thing really clear your skin or even out your skin tone? It just didn’t make sense because all those AHAs and oils, and serums are supposed to do that, right?

If you’re looking for inexpensive skin care products that actually have the power to transform your skin, then The Ordinary is the girl you’re looking for.
I can’t remember when or how I was introduced to these products but I remember the first ones I bought were the 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rosehip Seed Oil and the Hyaluronic Acid 5% + B5. I have always dealt with some form of acne and hyper-pigmentation due to acne scarring, so after a lot of research, I settled on these two to help battle the issues I was having at the time.

I wish I would have taken a before and after picture.
Last week I got the urge to purge. Maybe the start of Spring put me in the mood to start Spring cleaning – if you know me well, you know cleaning really makes me happy – but last week I was ready to get rid of almost everything. My skin care drawer was a mess, I was looking through all of my makeup thinking, why do I have so much stuff. I try to be mindful when it comes to excess. There are certain things I really love, like shoes and skincare products and will always buy, but if it’s something I haven’t used or worn in a while, I try to give it away or toss it.
